MJB recently dropped first single, ’25 / 8′ for her upcoming album. The album will tentatively drop nationwide November 21st, (just in for Thanksgiving) – the same day as Michael Jackson‘s new CD, ‘Immortal’ and Rihanna‘s ‘Talk That Talk’.

Mary J Blige also returned to perform on “Dancing with the Stars” in the third week’s results show of the 13th season. She performed her classic joint, “Real love”. Professional dancers, Dasha Chesnokova and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, performed…

Yeah, this is NOT the best MJB cover but then again, it seems she does not have much success with some of her magazine covers. There was that issue with her Vibe cover some time back….

*sigh* I/we heart her regardless!

Reacting to Amy Winehouse‘s death:

“When I got the text about Amy, I was lying down on the bed. I got up and read the message about her death and just lay back down again. I kept getting up and laying back down for some reason. I’d always wanted to work with Amy, so I just couldn’t believe it really.  And then it hit me—that could have been me. That really could have been me!”

MJB is preparing to release her new album ‘My Life II: The Journey Continues’ this November. The album, MJB’s tenth studio album, is preceded by lead single, ‘25/8′.

The album, recorded in Los Angeles and New York City, sees Mary looking toward the future while acknowledging the past.

“From me to you, My Life II… Our journey together continues in this life. It’s a gift to be able to relate and identify with my fans at all times. This album is a reflection of the times and lives of people all around me.”

Y’All Feeling The Queen’s Cover?!?!?

Hi guys & dolls!

Loving all things TuFace Idibia! Just got off the phone with his peeps and they are already in the A (Atlanta, Georgia) as I write to tape his appearance on BET’s “The Monique Show”.

With Tuface at Afrotainment Studios

Said his camp, “Yes, the car came already to pick him up to take him to the studios (or the Penthouse as Monique likes to call it). We are taping The Monique Show this morning. He doing this for Africa, for his fans.“

Earlier this month, Tuface stopped by our studio’s at Afrotainment for a sit-down interview with the “Point Of View” ladies. You can check out his interview on DishNetwork Channel 751 on 6:30pm on Sunday.

I also got a chance to spend time & hang out with Tuface and his beautiful family as they vacayed! We had fun times (what happens during vacation, must remain there, ha!)

What I absolutely loved and adored about Tuface is that he is so humble, down-to-earth & passionate about Africa! Boy, did we talk African politics, the problems plaguing the continent. Our discourse did not end there. We dissected possible solutions, what we could do individually & collectively as Africans…one thing was evident, the man’s heartsong is Africa!

Tuface tells me that a friend connected him to fab singer, Mary J Blige, whom he recorded a song with. He was part of Sony Music Worldwide and Rockstar4000‘s International Supergroup “One8” made up of 8 African superstars from 8 different countries and  R. Kelly. The artistes include R. Kelly (USA), 2face Idibia (Nigeria), Amani (Kenya), Fally Ipupa (Congo), JK (Zambia), 4X4 (Ghana), Navio (Uganda), Alikiba (Tanzania) and Movaizhaleine (Gabon). They recorded the song,“Hands Across The World”, in Chicago. This is the 1st single from One8, and we’re told to expect a full-blown album, a DVD release, and a series of Diaries in the very near future (possibly before the end of the year).

His catalog is pretty extensive and I know most of you know his world-famous “Implication“, “African Queen” songs. He tells a funny story that when he performed live in concert in Jamaica, particularly after “African Queen“, the Jamaicans would ask him “what island ya from?” *inserts Jamaican accent*. You should hear him tell it!

Hearting all things Mary J Blige!

Mary’s cover for her ninth studio album, Stronger with Each Tear, which is due for release, December 22nd. Simple. Elegant. Very MJB!

Stronger has been pushed back quite a few times and I hear for number of reasons….her single featuring Drake, The One did not do as expected on the charts [so another single, I Am has been released prior to album release], her label wants to time her album release with premiere of her reality show on BET…what ever the case, December 22nd cannot come any sooner for MJB fans!!!

Alicia Keys’ December 1st performance

Alicia Keys is performing and producing a YouTube concert today in honor of World AIDS Day and proceeds will go directly to her Keep A Child Alive non-profit organization. The concert will be taking place in New York City at the Nokia Theatre and will be streaming live on her  YouTube Channel at 8PM EST tonight.

Fab chic, Mary J. Blige opened up a center earlier this week in her hometown of Yonkers, New York to provide women with the assistance and support they need to bounce back from difficult life experiences. The center for women is a collaboration between Mary and Gucci. Joined by record label executive, Steve Stoute and Frida Giannini, Creative Director for Gucci, Mary celebrated the opening of the new Mary J. Blige Center for Women.

Steve and Mary are also founders of Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN), a foundation that is “dedicated to helping all women gain the confidence and skills they need to reach their full individual potential”.

And in music news, according to Rap-Up, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul’s ninth studio album Stronger which was scheduled to be released November 24th, is now scheduled for release on December 15th.

And the re-schedule is due to  Mary facing competition from Lil Wayne’s Rebirth which is dropping on November 24th? Mary has her own fan base and can move units regardless! I guess her fans will have to wait until December…makes for a nice Christmas gift though [smile]
