Oh, if I were a singer or something…boy did the celebs in South Africa get hooked up at this year’s SAMA’s! Take a peek inside one of the goodie bags they were given for doing what they do best…

The yellow MTN celeb bag that had all the goodies! MTN was the presenting sponsor for the 2010 South African Music Awards, so it was everything yellow! Well MTN is one cool company! They are a multinational telecommunications company, operating in 21 countries in Africa and the Middle East (from Botswana to Yemen & everything in between). As of end of December ’06, MTN recorded more than 40 million subscribers across its operations…

Really, what is the Red Carpet…Yellow Carpet without one of these remarkably fast and stylish cameras from Nikon??? Nikon will have you know that this premium ultracompact camera, the Nikon Cooolpix S610, takes great pictures no matter the conditions. You just need to get your swagga on…

This year’s 2010 MTN SAMA’s were a spectacle to watch, from the crazy to the uber fab… (although in my opinion, nothing beats the 2009 award show were host Trevor Noah came on stage wearing the traditional Zulu gear with a guitar at hand “memories”).

Big Nuz were arguably the best to beat on the night; Lira is just too good for her fellow artists so far and Black Coffee deserved all his awards after keeping the dance floors busy with “Juju”.

The yellow carpet was a mixture of color with assorted gowns and suits.

And what is the Red Carpet…um I mean Yellow Carpet without Khanyi Mbau & her sidekick, designer/stylist, Jeff??

Designer Gert Coetzee did a superb job on Bonang Matheba’s dresses (who was the best dressed female). Jozi looked “fresh to def” and cleaned up, Teargas were also looking “WOW”!  The Parlotones looked snazzy in red and black and Sizwe Dlomo just gave James Bond a run for his money.

And of course the usual suspects were there, (those who caused us to roll our eyes a few times in disbelief at what they were wearing)

Thandiswa Mazwai looked rather odd and “insect-like” in an indescribable dress and hairdo, Camagwini pulled a Lady Gaga on us and now holds the nickname “Lady Kaka” (LOL)! Winnie Khumalo gave an awesome performance but eish that dress was a huge miss (looked like she was wrapped in a black garbage bag, not a good sight!), and the ever soulful Unathi Nkayi looked a little too uncomfortable in a tight short dress that she battled to walk in.

Jozi and Kelly Rowland (who was not present) closed off the show with their 2010 World Cup song, ft Slikour, 2Face from Nigeria, and other artist from all over Africa.

I’m guessing the departure from the MTN SAMA’s with the 2010 song meant that all roads now lead to Mzansi for the 2010 World cup.

There was drama, laughter (thanks to Trevor), song and dance at this year’s SAMA’s. South African artists came out in style and walked away with a massive goodie bag worth R20 000….

Happy Sweet 16 to the MTN South African Music Awards!!!

All roads led to Sun City Super Bowl for the 16^th annual MTN South African Music Awards this past weekend! The awards were once again hosted by the cute-as-heck and downright funny Trevor Noah. As usual he did not disappoint, and made sure that the audience chuckled all night long.

The biggest winners of the night included the Durban boys Big Nuz (who by the way could have done better with their wardrobe), songbird Lira and The Parlotones, who gave an amazing performance with Louise Carver.
