Happy Mandela Day y’all!!! Mandela Day is an annual celebration of Nelson Mandela’s life and a global call to action for people to recognize their individual ability to make an imprint and change the world around them.

In 1985 the apartheid regime offered Nelson Mandela freedom on condition that he ceases all political activity. After 22 years in prison, he said the following in a letter read by his daughter, Zinzi:

“I am not prepared to sell the birthright of the people to be free…. I cherish my own freedom dearly but I care even more for your own freedom.” - Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela
