The Costume Institute Gala Benefit (better known as the MET Gala) — which, this year, is celebrating the opening of the “American Women: Fashioning a National Identity” exhibition — was held this past Monday in New York City’s The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The ridiculously glamorous benefit always draws the “creme de la creme” of the glitterati with some of the most intriguing red carpet fabness of the year.

Co-hosted by Oprah Winfrey, who was resplendent in custom Oscar de la Renta navy silk organza embroidered gown, Vogue‘s Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour and Gap Executive Vice President of Global Design, Patrick Robinson, the 2010 Met Gala invitees celebrated American style in high fashion….
