Magnitude 7.0 Erthquake Strikes Outside Port-au-Prince, Haiti & Wyclef Jean On How You Can Help – Text YELE to 501 501

According to CNN news reports, night fell a few hours after the 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Tuesday, reducing buildings as grand as the National Palace to rubble and knocking down phone and power lines.

The wounded, white with dust, filled the streets. Women clutched their babies, desperate to find help. Others stretched their arms skyward, calling out Jesus‘ name.

The American Red Cross also is accepting donations as they have already pledged an initial $200,000 toward relief efforts. They are releasing all their supplies located in a Panama warehouse, from kitchen and cooking sets to mosquito nets. They expect to see immediate needs for food, water, temporary shelter, medical services and emotional support.
