Madea, Madea, oh dear! Tyler Perry is definitely doing bad all by himself!

Lionsgate announced yesterday that it has acquired worldwide distribution rights to Tyler Perry’s adaptation of Ntozake Shange’s award-winning 1975 play, “For Colored Girls Who have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf”.

Tyler will write, direct and produce the film which will be the first project for his new production company [housed at Lionsgate] 34th Street Films. This movie is the 10th title in Lionsgate’s on-going franchise with Tyler! Lovely stuff this! It has been a great marriage between Tyler & Lionsgate. The movie “For Colored Girls Who have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf” is Tyler’s first film to be based on non-original material!
So the movie will feature an all-star cast of actors! How exciting! Principal photography is scheduled to begin in Atlanta in November 2009 and continue through December 2009. Lionsgate plans to release the movie in 2010…
Go Tyler…continue to be bad all by yourself!
